1. Who we are
MunBox is an iOS application that allows users to back up and transfer photos, videos, calendar events, and contacts from their iPhone to a computer via WiFi or USB cable. The app is operated independently and can be reached at hello@munbox.info.
2. Data we do NOT collect
MunBox does not collect, transmit, or store any of the following:
- Photos, videos, or any media files
- Calendar events or contact information
- Device identifiers, IP addresses, or location data
- Usage analytics or crash reports
- Any personally identifiable information
3. How the app works
When you use MunBox:
- WiFi transfer: A temporary local HTTP server is started on your device. Your files are served directly to browsers on the same WiFi network. No data is routed through any external server.
- Cable transfer: Files are copied to the app's local Documents folder, accessible via Finder or iTunes. No data leaves your device over the internet.
All transfers happen exclusively between your iPhone and your computer on your local network or via USB. No internet connection is required or used for transferring files.
4. Permissions
MunBox requests the following iOS permissions, solely to provide its core functionality:
- Photo Library: To read and export your photos and videos.
- Contacts: To export your contact list as a VCF file.
- Calendar: To export your calendar events as a JSON file.
- Local Network: To start a local WiFi server for file transfer.
None of the data accessed through these permissions is sent to any external server or third party.
5. Third-party services
MunBox does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. There are no in-app advertisements.
6. Data retention
Temporary files created during the backup process are stored in the app's temporary directory and are deleted automatically by iOS. Files saved to the Documents folder (for cable transfer) remain until you delete them manually or uninstall the app.
7. Children's privacy
MunBox does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. The app does not collect any personal data from any user, regardless of age.
8. Changes to this policy
If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
